GRAND-EST Meeting at Plancher-les-Mines, Saturday 27th May, 2023

The 2023 regional GRAND-EST meeting will take place on the 27th of May, 2023. Departure will be at 9am from Plancher-les-Mines 70290.

Welcome drinks will be offered from 8am on the departure parking lot located at l’impasse du canal (Canal dead-end) in Plancher-les-Mines. You’ll have to turn right on the street of Pont du Var (Var bridge). You’ll find the parking lot on the left after the bridge)

All the trails will end at La Planche des Belles Filles* where cyclists will receive the drinks traditionally served upon arrival.

The mountain bike trail will include the new pass called « Sans Nom » FR-70-1001 code.

The mountain bike trail will take place in the Ballons comtois national nature reserve. During the winter period, between 15 December and 14 July, mountain biking can only be practised on marked and authorised paths and and trails (see attached map).

You’ll be informed on the details of the trails as soon as possible

This meeting will take place just after the forêt-noire stay. It will enable a maximum of cyclists and bikers to climb this foothill which has attracted so many women and men cyclists, especially on the Tour de France.

La Planche des Belles Filles

La Planche des Belles Filles is so called because in 1635 the women and young girls from the village called Plancher-Bas decided to flee in the hills to escape the fierce and merciless Swedish warriors. The men stayed to defend their village. The only survivor was a young boy who took refuge with the women but the tracks he left on the ground were followed by the warriors. The end is open to a lot of legends. Search the internet if you want to know more… The word « planche » named the lower hills leading up to a mountain. Now, we say “contreforts”. Translated word by word: the foothills of the beautiful girls.
