Départ : Car park in the community of Plancher les Mines, at the canal cul de sac (turn right on the Rue du Pont du Var, the car park is on the left after the little bridge). Alt : 500 m

General description

The route crosses the highest community commune in the Vosges massif, Belfahy and continues towards Miellin. The valley of Melisey (Thibaud Pinot’s birthplace), has a beautiful 12th century romanesque church, and follows the plateau of 1000 lakes that’s worth an extra day to discover. The climb to the Col de la Chevestraye goes through Fresse, a typical village of the Saône Vosges. The final part of the ride has become historic as the Planche des Belles Filles has been climbed 6 times by the mens’ Tour de France and has become a can’t miss

Technical description

The section of the road between Belfahy and Miellin is very steep and potholed. The D486 is quite busy with traffic in the opposite direction to the circuit. The gradients of the Planche are record breaking at more than 20 % (24 % at the finish)
